www.discogs.com As One Real Name: Kirk Degiorgio Profile: Kirk Degiorgio (As One) is one of the most sought-after mixers/producers/Dj in today's eclectic dance music scene. Steering away from musical cliches and sticking to his soul-boy roots, he has managed to maintain his musical integrity over 8 years and 5 albums. Degiorgio currently uses As One, Elegy, Esoterik, Critical Phase, Family Values, Super-A-Loof (with Jamie Odell), and The Off World Ensemble as recording aliases. In 1992 Degiorgio recorded his first release on B12 Records. Shortly after this debut he founded the ART label (Applied Rythmic Technology) and the Op-ART label releasing early material by artists such as Carl Craig, Aphex Twin, Stasis, and The Black Dog. Degiorgio recorded material under the names As One and Future/Past for ART, Planet E and R&S before signing As One to New Electronica for the albums Reflections and Celestial Soul, which both made the Muzik Top 30 albums for 1994/5. Further albums for Clear (UK), Shield (France), and so on, eventually secured Kirk's reputation as a producer with a unique, individual sound, often incorporating jazz, soul, and funk elements into electronic tracks. Degiorgio's sound is warm techno with real soul and often based outside of the constraints of the straight 4/4 beat. His style can be partly traced to his main musical influences: P-Funk, Motown, early hip hop, Detroit techno, and mid-60's Blue Note.

The Osborne Brothers, Sonny Osborne (b. October 29, 1937) and Bobby Osborne (b. December 9, 1931), were an influential and popular bluegrass act during the 1960s and 1970s. They are probably best known for their #33 1968 country hit song, "Rocky Top", written by Felice and Boudleaux Bryant and named after a mountain in Tennessee Although the Osbornes were born in Hyden, Kentucky, they grew up near Dayton, Ohio and had their first experiences as entertainers in southwestern Ohio.[2] When Bobby was drafted into the military, Sonny went to work with the "Father of Bluegrass Music" Bill Monroe in 1952. Upon the return of Bobby from service in 1953, the Osbornes teamed up with Jimmy Martin performing at radio stations WROL in Knoxville, Tennessee and WJR in Detroit, Michigan.[3][4] At their only session together the Osbornes and Martin recorded six songs for RCA Victor on November 16, 1954.[5] Soon, the Osbornes left Martin and moved to Wheeling, West Virginia in the late 1955 where they performed on WWVA Jamboree until Christmas together with Charlie Bailey.[6] They returned to Dayton in early 1956 playing the local clubs together with guitarist Enos Johnson. When Johnson left, the Osbornes added guitarist Red Allen and fiddler Art Stamper to form a new group. The Osborne Brothers and Red Allen (under the pseudonym Stanley Alpine) recorded for Gateway Records in February or March 1956 cutting eight instrumentals. In the spring 1956, a local disc jockey, Tommy Sutton, helped ...

Here's a great and interesting little rarity that I came across some 20 years ago while record hunting. I want to share it with you and the story of the band, which is quite fascinating. This is also a tribute to Mrs. Johnnie Mae Matthews, one of the key figures in Detroit's music scene, a fine lady who passed away in 2002. The Nazty was a super funky group from Detroit and they cut this LP for the cult label Mankind/Excello in 1976. Mankind had ZZ Hill and Freddie North in their stable too. The Nazty is the group that later became the ADC Band and cut extremely nice records on Cotillion in the late 70's to early 80's, as several of the members are the same. And in the preceding chapter of this story, The Nazty was called Black Nasty, and cut the excellent LP "Talking To The People" on Enterprise/Stax in 1973. The common denominator is Johnnie Mae Matthews, an extremely talented lady, nicknamed the "Godmother of Detroit soul". Mrs. Johnnie Mae Matthews was an artist in her own right in the 60's, but was highly prolific, she concentrated on operating her own label called "the Northern Recording Company" which she started in the late 50's, managing artists, writing and producing. She is truly an unsung Music Giant! Johnnie Mae wrote and produced for the Black Nasty, The Nazty and ADC Band, which all contained her son, drummer Chuck (Artwell) and daughter, lead vocalist Audrey "Kaiya" Matthews. I also think I can claim that the lady on the pic with the big hair is Alicia ...

Dramadeus - "Becoming Van Gogh" taken from the album "TOGETHER, We Can Destroy The World" Available at www.Dramadeus.com Painting titled "The Training Team" This video was shot using only 2 takes (One 45min time lapsed stationary camera, and one panning shot at the end of the video). The budget for the film was $800. I'd like to thank Repentagain Records, Ruthless Aggression Promotions, and I'n'K Music for the patience and the 45 minutes of uninterrupted work. This video marks the first time ANYONE has seen my process. Look for me throwing my phone at the wall in the opening, piecing it back together at the end, and spitting on the canvas upon completion. Dramadeus - "Becoming Van Gogh" On this dark and starry night I'm feeling movement from beneath my skin / My beard is growing, doubts are rising, demons coming from within / Tempt me with the allure of flesh, but I've been stricken impotent / Get off my bed is all I said. The transformation then begins. / Not going out at all, I sit here / Its going to be a long winter / in effort just to calm the jitters I eat all my paint and I drink all my thinner / I'm losing it...My brothers out there wining-dinning eating meals and I'm alone, I have no friends just dreaming of these wheat fields / I need a fix and quick, so baby lose the pants and be my model paints are empty maybe then just bring me absinthe by the bottle / My face is rotting, lost a tooth / Toss my body off the roof / So destitute, who wants the truth? Spewing forth from an industrial swamp south of Detroit in the mid-1980s, Art Phag cut a raw-boned, stripped down, gut poundin', dead raisin', hot damn I'm on fire and I'm takin' you fuckers with me to hell path of destruction through the Motor City music scene for nearly a decade before flamin' out like Russian space junk fallin' from heaven on a starry starry night. Co-founded by Detroit's legendary surf-rock-a-billy guitar lord and mad scientist, Len Puch and heavily medicated, sometimes lucid, mostly liquored, crazed songwriter, Vegas Razz, Art Phag combined a heavy, swampy, bluesy wall of thick thick mud with a bazooka directness. Heavily influenced by Screamin' Jay Hawkins, The Cramps and a steady dose of voodoo beats from the other side, Art Phag blasted a sonic grunginess long before kids were rippin' their jeans in Seattle AND doing it all with only a greased up guitar, jungle pounding drums and other-worldly vocals. - Teenage Lobotomy Blog
